Digital Economy Heads of the Valleys (DEHOV)

Digital technology has grown at an incredible pace bringing with it ever changing ways of conducting business and managing information. Today?s companies need to understand how to utilise the digital economy in order to gain efficiencies and competitive advantage. Offered through UHOVI, DEHOV is a Work-Based Learning Project designed to equip employers and employees with the skills needed to succeed in this digital age.

Leading to achieve business goals

This course will be provided as a bite-sized, 20 credit module for anyone working or aspiring to be a middle manager in any sector. You will develop an understanding of the role leaders and managers have in ensuring that business goals and outcomes are achieved in organisations. This course is aimed at practicing or aspiring middle managers to develop and take responsibility for their own professional and personal development, leadership skills, knowledge and behaviours. Digital Economy†

Digital technology has grown at an incredible pace bringing with it ever changing ways of conducting business and managing information. We have a portfolio of courses focusing on the understanding and use of business technologies for the digital economy. Our courses are suitable for employers and employees in a wide range of roles from management to administrative or technical posts.

Whether you want to focus on performance management within your organisation, expand your knowledge of e-trading opportunities, or find out more about digital marketing, we can provide accredited training packages to suit your needs.

We also offer a range of courses aimed at improving computer skills from office applications to 3D graphics, web design to databases and courses to help you look after your IT hardware.

Creative and Cultural Industries (CCI)*†

We will be offering a suite of flexible modules designed to improve skills and develop fresh approaches within the creative and cultural industries sector. Whether you want to keep abreast of the latest technology, improve knowledge in a specific area or could benefit from a creativity boost, we can provide customised short courses to help your business move ahead.

Part-time courses will be delivered by academics with wide-ranging experience and expertise in all areas of CCI including broadcast media production, graphics, animation, fashion, photography, web and new media. These accredited bite-sized courses will be highly practical, hands-on and delivered locally so employees don?t need to travel far. If students wish to continue their professional development, credits can be used to contribute to further study within their subject area, such as Foundation Degrees.

High Performance Working Network (HPWN)*†

High Performance Working Network is an innovative business development and support programme. It will allow local firms to access high quality continuing professional development and aims to help businesses to learn from each other through partnership working and the creation of regional networks.

HPWN will bring companies, academics and industry experts together to encourage knowledge sharing, learning innovation, creativity, business sustainability and growth. Short courses will be available supporting leadership and management skills plus high performance working skills, across a range of subjects such as: Marketing, Planning and Strategy, Customer Care, Human Resources, Business Improvement, Legislation, Procurement, Creativity and Innovation, E-commerce, Leadership, Negotiation and Tax Management. Additionally, the programme will provide opportunities for negotiated work-based learning change management projects to allow collective solutions to be sought for business problems.

Learning Coach Level 4 Certificate

The Learning Coach Level 4 Certificate supports practitioners, providing learning, coaching functions to do so in a manner that supports learners aged 14 - 19 to participate in education and training, take advantage of opportunities for employment, and participate effectively and responsibly in their communities. The Learning Coach Accreditation process

This course allows existing recognised Learning Coaches to gain the Level 4 Certificate in Learning Coaching combined with HE Credit. The course will be provided in bite-sized, 20 credit, modules to enable individuals to gain formal accreditation and recognition for their previous training and experience in the role of a Learning Coach. Leadership in Theory and Practice

This course will be provided in bite-sized, 20 credit modules for anyone working or aspiring to be a leader or middle manager in any sector. You will develop your knowledge and skills whilst gaining university credits which could be used towards a Foundation Degree.
