Digital Economy Heads of the Valleys (DEHOV)
Participant feedback
BBI Enzymes
David Jones, General Manager - "At BBI Enzymes (UK) Limited we isolate and purify enzymes and related biochemicals for use in the Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic Industry. We were approached a few months ago by UHOVI and asked if we would be interested in any of the courses that they had on offer. Technology is ever changing, so to be able to offer our staff training on current computer applications was hugely attractive to us and with the added benefit of the courses being delivered at a time and location that was suitable for us. This level of service is invaluable to businesses to ensure that we remain competitive in an ever changing marketplace."
CR, Creative Design Agency
Helen Richards, Account Director - "I'm aware that I need to continually brush up on my skills and one of these areas is the process and impact for integrating Social Media into my business environment. I'd heard that DEHOV were providing courses in IT in my area and decided to give them a call. I spoke to Claire Davies the Employer Engagement Lecturer who was very helpful and able to direct me on the ideal course that would address my needs. I'm really looking forward to starting my course as its sounds perfect to increase my skill base."
DecTek Ltd
Dave Beese, General Manager - "DecTek is a multi-award winning company which specialises in Digital Print and Resin Application - products include: Domed Labels, Domed Name Badges, Roll-Up Banners, Pop-Up Exhibition Stands, PVC Banners & Vinyl Graphics.
The DEHOV project has given DecTek the perfect opportunity to further up skill its workforce with the very latest technology across a broad range of subjects with the added bonus of not having to incur any costs and no disruption to production. The co-ordinated learning approach will enable DecTek staff to sustain the understanding of what is necessary to maintain the company as a leader in its field by engaging topics such as SAGE Accounting, Web Design & Microsoft Office to name but a few.
We await further news of more course subjects with great anticipation ? truly, too good an opportunity for companies in our position to turn down in the current business climate."
Design Environmental
Alison Morris, HR Manager - "We found out about DEHOV when we received an email advertising a new Microsoft Project course - perfect for our production department. The course content ticked all the right boxes: it was local training at a convenient time, course content was what we were looking for and there was no charge for the training.
The knowledge received from the training will be put into practice to enable a more efficient, smooth-flowing production process, therefore helping Design Environmental to become smarter in our processes. The training has provided a good knowledge base to help the company progress in the ever changing manufacturing business. It will also help to keep us up to date with changing technology so that we are able to stay ahead of the game."
Geesinknorba
Mansel Kersey, UK IT Manager - "There is great anticipation amongst the team for the upcoming training, the users feel it will give them new skills and tools to be more productive employees. DEHOV has been a real help in identifying the training needs of our team, not only for them as individuals but to help the company through these uncertain economic times.
The training will ensure that not only are our employees able to work smarter for us as a business but they will also be an asset to the local economy."
Titanic Designs
Joanne Rossouw, Director - "As a start up business, bringing new outdoor lifestyle products to the market, I was delighted to hear from a local SME supplier MeCreative Graphic Designs, of the DEHOV training project.
I contacted Claire Davies from the project and she promptly arranged an appointment to meet with me and discuss the project and eligibility criteria. I am currently registered on two courses: Computerised Accounting (Sage) and Web Design and Authoring.
I trust that at the end of these courses, I will be able to apply newly acquired IT skills to manage my business more effectively and efficiently - harnessing the advantages that come with up-to-date information and communication technologies.
It is important for Welsh businesses to keep up with the rest of the business world if they are to survive in an increasingly competitive, globalised market, where technology and "the internet" are ever important facets of business survival."
