Foundation Degree in Community Development - taster event - 5th December 2011

04 November 2011

The Centre of Community and Lifelong Learning (CCLL), University of Wales, Newport and UHOVI would like to invite you to participate in a taster event in Tredegar.

Can Community Development put a stop to Poverty?

A recent report funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation states that the amount of people affected by poverty is going to get worse. (Institute for Fiscal Studies, 2011)
This taster event will enable you to examine the term poverty, e.g. definitions of poverty, relative and absolute poverty, and child poverty. We will discuss how poverty affects communities we work within and opportunities for beating poverty.
The taster event is run by University staff, which includes community development practitioners.

The event will take place at CCLL, University of Wales, Newport, 11 Gwent Shopping Centre, Tredegar on Monday 5th December from 10.00am - 12.30pm. Refreshments will be provided.

Contact Lise Jacobsen on 01495 722 973 or email lise.jacobsen@newport.ac.uk to book you place as spaces are limited.
