Be inspired! Make new contacts! Support the students!
'Last year's event was truly inspiring and uplifting to see the students excel themselves', enthused Nick Hewer (BBC The Apprentice fame and Patron of Big Pitch 2011)...

The ‘Big Pitch’ is based on teams of students from Coleg Gwent, Coleg Morgannwg, Merthyr Tydfil College and The College Ystrad Mynach presenting their ideas and a costed marketing plan for a customer offer at the Rock UK Summit Centre, Trelewis.
The facility is Rock UK's first outdoor adventure centre in Wales and represents a strategic investment given their ambitious plans for a £2.5million refurbishment of what was formerly the Wales International Climbing Centre.
The ‘Big Pitch’ provides an opportunity for the students to enhance their employability and enterprise skills based on real-world experience as last year’s event, involving Rhymney Brewery, proved (see video, produced by local business Anytime Films, at: http://www.hovip.org.uk/big-pitch-video.php).
This year 265 students, from the four Colleges, have been whittled down to 8 teams of four students per team. The students have been trained by business owners in marketing and presentation skills and how to write a press release and visited Rock UK to assist their research and be inspired!
The students will pitch to four judges, including Ruth Badger (an Apprentice finalist), and an audience, at the Pierhead Building, Cardiff Bay, on 28 November (11:15-3:30pm). There are 20 places remaining so if you would like to attend then please contact Wendy Locke (see the attached flyer).
The event is co-sponsored by Capita Symonds, Rhymney Brewery, UHOVI and the Valleys Regional Park / WECAN Project (which focuses on using the environment as an economic driver for regeneration in the region). The Welsh Government is the main funder as the initiative supports the Youth Entrepreneurship Strategy.
